Queen’s Quay Kiosk Highly Commended at Civic Trust Awards

Queen’s Quay Kiosk has transformed an underused riverside site into a welcoming public space on Belfast’s waterfront.

A brilliant night celebrating something we care a lot about: how small but meaningful interventions can trial and test change in cities. Delighted Queen’s Quay Kiosk has been Highly Commended at the Civiic Trust Awards - and to see the bravery of Belfast City Council in allowing the brief to develop in this way recognised too. Even better to see it doing its job: activating the waterfront with all sorts of activity (and fantastic coffee). It’s become a great meeting place along the water.

Thanks to all involved - MMAS Architects, Belfast City Council, Maritime Belfast Trust, Fabrite Group and Native Coffee. A brilliant job by Native continuing to develop the space.

Judges’ Comments: “The Kiosk is a delight and has enriched the area into a wonderful place to relax and engage with the river, the day and very diverse range of passers-by.”
