Part 8 PlanningApproval for Newcastle West Community Hub, Maiden Street

We’re delighted to share that the our Community Hub in Newcastle West has now received Part 8 approval. The project, which reimagines a group of vacant buildings on Maiden Street, will bring new life to the town centre through a flexible community and cultural space.

Working with Limerick City & County Council and FOSCA, the scheme transforms three existing properties into a multi-functional hub for arts, education, enterprise and everyday community use. The proposal includes a café, performance spaces, workshops, studios and incubator units, creating a building that is open, active and rooted in the life of the town.

At its core, the project is about repair and reuse: retaining the character of the existing terrace while introducing new interventions that support long-term vitality. It also looks beyond the building itself, with the opportunity to reopen Brewery Lane and strengthen connections through the town centre.

Originally initiated through THRIVE funding, the project has moved from early engagement and testing to approval, demonstrating how targeted investment can unlock wider regeneration. We’re looking forward to seeing the next stage of the project take shape.
